Green Eggs Did You Say?

Yep!  We had a "Green Eggs and Ham" lunch!

We read the book, which I love, and then we had our yummy little lunch!

What did the girls think, you ask?

Well...see for yourself!

You might say they were a little skeptical at first.  *smile*

But they realized that they did like green eggs and ham.  They liked them, liked them "Sam I am"!

New Arrival

I am proud to announce the arrival of my youngest grand-daughter, Miss Bella Marie Hunt!

Yes, she was a surprise, but we're so glad she's finally here!

Mommy and Bella are both doing great!

Once again, I am one proud Nana!

Fun With Sequins...

Bree and Carlie experimented with sequin art today.

It started out as fun, but I don't think it turned out to be one of their favorite crafts.

Before we were finished, they had blown them all over the floor, had glue on everything, and their sequins were sticking to everything except their project.

I think it's pretty fair to say that they would be happy if they never saw another sequin in their little lives!  *smile*

Oh well!  You don't know if you like it til you try it!

Animal Crackers In My Soup

Miss Carlie had her most recent dance recital in the middle of June.

Here she is dancing to "Animal Crackers in my Soup" by Shirley Temple.

Her little dances were so adorable, and she's doing great and having fun in her dance class!

I think she's beautiful, but then I guess I'm just a little prejudice.  I'm so proud of her!

Health 'N Exercise

*Snack on bananas and raisins; they help to alleviate fluid retention.

*Bananas have a natural antacid effect on the body.  So if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana for soothing relief.

*Two-minute tummy tuck:  Seated or standing, inhale allowing the abdominal muscles to gently relax outward.  Think of your tummy as a balloon.  Exhale, contracting the abdominal muscles tightly inward, as if you're trying to get every bit of air out of the balloon.

*Have bad breath?  Take a slice of cucumber, put it on the roof of your mouth, and hold it their with your tongue for 30 seconds.  It will kill the bacteria in your mouth that's causing the bad breath.

*Laughing really does do you good!  Laughter is a great form of stress relief, according to the Mayo Clinic.  Its long-term effects may even build up your immune system.  So have a good laugh today!

Miscellaneous

*To remove love bugs from your car, wet a Bounce dryer sheet, hose down your car, and wipe love bugs off easily with the wet Bounce.

*Place a fabric softener sheet in your clothes drawers or linen closets, and they will smell freshly washed for weeks.

*To dry a damp load of clothes faster, add a dry bath towel to the dryer.

*Have an ant problem?  Sprinkle Cinnamon near their entry point.  Be sure to sprinkle a good amount on thresholds of outside doors, window sills, etc...  Ants hate it, it's environmentally safe, and it won't hurt children or pets.  Plus it smells good, too!

*To keep your lettuce from wilting, put a paper towel in with it to absorb the moisture.

*Problems with moths?  Make sachets out of lavender, lemon, thyme, mint, rosemary, tansy, or wormwood.  Place in linen closets, drawers, and in closets.

Cleaning

*To clean your washing machine, run it on hot water on the normal cycle.  Add a bottle of vinegar to clean the soap film and scrum that's built up inside.

Beauty

*Vinegar can bring life back to dull hair.  Use as a rinse - 1/4 cup vinegar to 1 cup of water.

*For skin blemishes, cover the blemish with a dab of honey, then cover with a band-aid.  Honey kills the bacteria, keeps the skin sterile, and this remedy will work overnight.

*For a matte finish on your nails, add cornstarch to your clear nail polish.

*Olive oil can be added to bath water for a skin softener.

*To dry nails in a hurry, spray with cooking spray.

*Add a little baking soda to your facial cleaner for a nice exfoliator.

She's the Queen of the Waves

So, yeah I'm a little behind, but oh well.  If you've been keeping up with my blog, you'll know I'm not always Ms. Punctual!  *smile*

Bree was in her school's talent show at the end of the year, and I was one proud Nana!  She did an awesome job!  She did a little number to Barbie's "Queen of the Waves".

She really surprised all of us!  I had no idea she'd be brave enough to get up there on that stage and dance her little heart out!

And see that surfboard, I know it's not a great picture of it, but my hubby made it for her.  He did a great job!

Now if I can just figure out how to upload the video...hmmm...

Hubby's Frozen Pina Colada

My husband has got to make the best frozen Pina Coladas I have ever tasted! They are one of my favorite drinks; although, I prefer them with no alcohol!

These drinks are perfect for the pool side or for a "safe" get-together. Cool, refreshing, and oh so yummy! I hope you enjoy them as much as we do!

Ingredients:

1 cup of Pina Colada Drink Mix (Any will do)

6-8 scoops of Blue Bell Homeade Vanilla Ice Cream

2 cups of Crushed Ice

Slice of Pineapple (Optional)

Cherry (Optional)

Directions:

1)  In a blender, combine the drink mix, the ice cream, and the crushed ice;

2)  Blend until smooth;

3)  Garnish with pineapple and cherry, if desired.

That's it!  If it's a bit too thick, you can add extra liquid.  If it's too thin, add a bit more ice cream.

Enjoy!
